Out with Sam & Jack tonight - first time in ages we've all been out together - thanks, fellas!! Colehill double loop again with Bully's Special Prize of St John's Hill too! As ever when it's the 3 of us, we had bottle, pedal & lights challenges - but it would be boring otherwise!!! Average cadence of 82 tonight too.
A special sponsorship today from an old pal from my previous life - Bruce Hallam of GMAC - many thanks Bruce & very generous - Bruce is lucky enough to be a Liverpool supporter too!
Short & sweet
Best wishes

Cycle Slam D-78
It's been a week since my last update, but that doesn't mean it's been quiet! It certainly wasn't quiet this afternoon watching the Carling Cup Final - well done Liverpool (and Cardiff too!) - I can't say I enjoy penalty shoot outs, but who cares when you're team win!!!
So, Tuesday night I went out (alone again! Homework!!) - with Canford Bottom Roundabout's side roads now fully shut, i varied the route with a loop back up St John's Hill - I'm a sucker for punishment. 9.9 miles in all with 559 feet of climbing. Thursday night was a Turbo session with Bon Jovi, all set up for the weekend!
Saturday morning I headed out with Sam to do a 40+ ride - Sam's first big one this year, so I think, on reflection, we were a bit ambitious but we cracked 40, took in an extended route up from Blandford towards Shaftsbury, with a right turn at Iwerne Minster for a climb of just over a mile & just about 400 feet - that's the first time I've beaten Sam up a hill for about 2 years!! We dropped down through Stubhampton & onto the Salisbury road before coming back via Long & Moor Crichel - 40.2 miles & 2,900 of climbing - well done Sam & thanks for your company!
Out again this afternoon, this time a similar route to last Sunday, but without the hail! I shortened it to 31.4 miles, but still took in the 1.5 mile climb to Ashley Wood Golf course, but I wanted to get back before the football started!! 79 cadence today & 0.7 mph faster than last Sunday - so I was pleased with that.
In total 5,000 feet of climbing this weekend - my 4 stages of the Cycle Slam are 15,000 feet of climbing, so I'm building well for that!!
On the Sponsoring front, I raised another £325 this week, plus gift aid, so I'm nearly at the £2k mark! You can now sponsor by text: RIDER5 or RIDER10 (for £5 or £10) to 70300 followed by my rider number of 504. Feel free to text & share this with whoever you can!!!
Luke's team had a good mid-table game today, coming out on top 3-2 - Luke had a solid game in goal & continues to make us proud!!
Looking forward to a Tuesday night ride with Jack +/or Sam!!
Well done, again Liverpool!! & thanks to my wonderful family for an enjoyable afternoon in front of the final!
Keep pedalling

Cycle Slam D-85
Jack's back from his school skiing trip - he returned mid afternoon yesterday - weary but full of good stories - glad to have you back, Jack!
It was a beautiful sunny Sunday morning today, so I had a short ride out with Sam, followed by a longer one on my own - although once I'd got to 19 miles I realised that Sam had probably read the weather forecast & not told me - I had the first of three hail showers which happened to coincide with a nearly 2 mile hill climb! So i had a good soaking, & once I got back home the roads were dry & not a drop had fallen from the heavens!! So just over 42 miles today & a good route to build on.
Great victory for Liverpool this afternoon against Brighton - aided by three OGs, the third being quite comical! Roll on the League Cup final next Sunday!
Fellas are all back to school tomorrow - already into the 2nd half of the school year!
Best Wishes!

Cycle Slam D-88
Another good fund raising day with £155 + gift aid from more colleagues at work & my first money in from one of our manufacturer partners - £300 from www.renault.co.uk, again thanks for you help Chris Swain! If you want to donate online it's www.virginmoneygiving.com/AndyNeill - just in case i've not said it before!
Out on the road again tonight - same double loop as last night with an extra 1/3rd of a mile on the end - I increased my average speed by 0.3mph over yesterday (doesn't look much when you write it - but it was quicker!) & managed to have Bon Jovi back in my head not Rick Astley!!
Jack's had loads of snow on his Ski trip over the last couple of days, but managed to get up the mountain today to do three good slalom runs, amongst other things - sounds like he's had a great time - he starts heading back tomorrow afternoon!
Now i'm off to paint the ceiling!
Best wishes

Cycle Slam D-89
First a confession - the last song on the radio tonight before I went out for my first ride on the road this month was Rick Astley - Never gonna give you up! - and could I get it out of my head - no! - what's all that about!!
More importantly after a request to all the slammers a little while ago if any of us had any contacts with vehicle suppliers, via my colleague Chris Swain we put the organisers in touch with www.skoda.co.uk & they have now concluded what I think is three Skodas to support the Slam - thanks guys!! - glad we could help!
Anyway, after all the cold weather, i got back on the road tonight - on my own though - Jack's off on his Ski trip & Linsey, Sam & Luke have gone upto Linsey's mum & dad's for a few days - It's Dennis's birthday tomorrow - Happy Birthday Dennis! I did our 9.25 mile double loop this evening - great to get out & I managed 78 average cadence..
I've started collecting sponsors at work this week - there's some very kind & generous people that I work with - so thanks to all of you who have pledged me money so far..
Best Wishes

Cycle Slam D-93
The days seem to be counting down quicker than ever, but with the cold & icy weather, it's been a case of turbo turbo turbo!! but we do miss being out on the road!
Thursday evening was a Bon Jovi Turbo Night - which included 5 sessions in top gear for 15 seconds at 100+ cadence - i got it upto 110 - so i was happy, but my legs weren't!!

Friday came early with Jack off for a week on his school ski trip - got him to school at 6am & he went on the coach to Austria & got there this morning! It won't be long & this'll be our Jack:

We'll miss him this week, but he'll have a great time & bring us back plenty of stories!!
This morning Luke played up a year again for the U11 cricket at Parley - as ever he & his partner scored as many in their 4 overs as the rest of the team in there 8, but it wasn't enough & Bashley took the honours - a solid stint behind the stumps though & a very good run out!
Back on the turbo this evening with www.3lc.tv - it was hard but i'm always in the top box now - gotta keep pushing!!
Right, time for a darts match with Luke!
Keep Pedalling!
